Mission Viejo, CA, is a city with a population of 94,695, located in the Saddleback Valley part of Orange County, CA It is considered and thereby a part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The city is positioned 10 miles east of the pacific ocean.
Mission Viejo acquired its name as part of a development from the 52,000-acre Rancho Mission Viejo. Initially, dating all the way back to 1769, a Spaniard named Gaspar de Portola led an expeditionary force from Mexico across the southern border of the ranch to claim the land for Spain.
